For this simple blog, let me offer one key follow on insight in today’s world and its importance for our Rising Stars. In a previous blog I pointed out a key observation a senior manager brought out about younger generations and the reader may perhaps remember the quote as:
“I will share with you that the real challenge we see often is that with the Younger Generations, they do not really connect and don’t really show any evidence of real connection. They simply come in, go through the route & superficial and rote square simple things…and then go home!”
In a previous blog I pointed out how often parents simply focus on themselves and then simply tell the Rising Star what to do. This is dysfunctional and I want to expand on a key insight from this of which parents and those developing Rising Stars must be keenly aware.
I offer you a true quote from Jimmy Evans about Training Up Your Rising Star:
“Train does Not mean Tell…. It means SHOW…
This Training is more Caught than Taught!”
-Jimmy Evans
Key Leadership & Neuroscience Truth and Application:
Realize that a Facilitative Coaching Style of your interaction with them will help to truly grow their ability and not shut down their brain and thinking. However, allow me to add a couple of key aspects dovetailing from this insight previously mentioned.
#1 Key Aspect:
A key point in using this coaching facilitative style is critically important and this is why. Remember that part of true leadership is “Modelling for Your Team”! As you raise your Rising Stars, if you are doing this right, which is not common, you are truly modelling Leadership & Success for your Rising Star. As you do this correctly, not only are they perhaps getting answers, but they are also experiencing true leadership and subconsciously, this can be becoming part of who they are becoming. Realize in doing this correctly, you are helping their mental processing, but they are also becoming a successful person because of what they are experiencing with you.
You may recall that in my autobiography I pointed out the following:
“The leaders with whom I learned the most and developed in myself was awesome, but I did not gain it from anything anyone said…but rather through what I observed and experienced with them!”
This is a picture of what I am describing here.
#2 Key Aspect:
The second key aspect is something critical. In my autobiography, I pointed out the 4 Defining Moments I had in my life journey. Realize that Defining Moments are not just big points. They are Defining Points not just that something happened, but that it was totally modifying you in your journey. Not just an event but an amazing Moments in which you are much more successful and are never the same again.
Also realize that True Defining Moments are generally Neuroscience aligned with their Visions, Dreams and Professional Passion so they should individually have clarity on those.
If you lead the Rising Stars correctly and truly model for them in such a way that they truly experience their success, and they not only experience the change, but they see how they are much different and more successful after that moment.
When you truly interact with your Rising Stars in a way where you are not just controlling them but modelling true leadership and development in a way in which they really are Truly Becoming and also truly developing for their future.
So let me ask a couple of questions for the reader to consider:
What do you need to do differently to truly model leadership success?
What must you do differently to truly prepare your Rising Star to be ready for their Defining Moments?
What must you change to truly model and inspire their growth and leadership development…and not relative to your view but their truthful successful dreams and vision?
Finally, let me ask you, how must you truly adapt your vision and application so that they will be truly developed and prepared for future leadership and success in their journey when you are not there anymore?
